Prize for regional journalism

Deadline: 31/07/11
Journalists who focus on regional issues can apply for an award.

The International Policy Network (IPN) is now accepting entries for the first annual R.C. Hoiles Prize for Regional Journalism.

The US$15,000 prize recognizes journalists addressing regional issues whose writing best reflects the Freedom Philosophy developed by R. C. Hoiles. Hoiles believed that the sole legitimate function of government is to protect individuals against fraud and force; everything else should be left to the private sector.

The Hoiles Prize is open to all writers, anywhere in the world, but preference will be given to writers based in North America.

Up to six articles may be submitted and entries must not exceed 4,500 words in total. Self-published articles and articles published only in blogs are acceptable.
