To celebrate its tenth anniversary, the Bastiat Prize for Journalism this year will have a total prize fund of US$70,000, with a first prize of US$50,000, second prize of US$15,000 and third prize of $5,000.

The International Policy Network (IPN) is now accepting entries for its Bastiat Prize for Journalism - an annual prize given to writers whose work helps to promote the institutions of a free society, including free expression.

The Bastiat Prize is open to all writers, anywhere in the world; writers need not be full time journalists or associated with any specific publication.

Entries must be submitted by July 31.

Submissions are judged by their intellectual content, the persuasiveness of the argument and the type of publication in which the original article appeared. Participants can enter more than one article, but the materials should be no more than 4,500 words combined.

The Bastiat Prize, first awarded in 2002, is named after the French philosopher and satirist known for his strong beliefs in free trade and the defense of liberty.

IPN is a think tank in London dedicated to the advancement of free society.
