Journalism prize to award coverage of social injustice

Journalists working as correspondents worldwide are welcome to apply to the ninth Miguel Gil Moreno Journalism Prize, which will award work that reflect the late Moreno's coverage of social injustice. Entries must be in -- or translated into -- Spanish. Deadline: March 22.

The contest, sponsored by Spain's Miguel Gil Moreno Foundation and Random House Mondadori, will be awarded to the entry that “best shares Miguel Gil's spirit and his conception of the correspondent as an independent, generous servant of society," according to the Foundation's Web site. Works could be print, audio, video, photography or digital media.

Entries should have been published between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. Photographs should be 18 cm. x 24 cm., in jpg format and accompanied by clips from the publications in which they first appeared. Entrants should submit no more than 10 images. Work in other media must include the name of the medium and the date on which it was published or broadcasted. All work must be accompanied by the author's short biography and each entry should include a brief CV.
