International media executives from emerging democracies are invited to apply for a fellowship to attend a seminar organized by the American Press Institute.

The James H. Ottaway Sr. fellowships aim to improve the independent editorial content and financial strength of daily newspapers in new democracies.

Fellows receive seminar tuition, accommodation, meals and airfare from the country of origin to Washington, D.C. to attend seminars. This year's API seminar line-up includes hot-button journalism topics such as "Mobile Media: Opportunities on the Move," from July 18-19 and "The Next Generation of Media Managers," held Nov. 14-15.

Applicants must have at least five years experience as a high-ranking publisher, editor or general manager. Fluency in English is also required.
