E-Engagement Workshop for Advocacy Organisations

Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Blogs….These and other forms of new media are fast evolving, and have already become key outreach and engagement tools for business. Those in the development sector cannot afford to ignore their potential.

With rising levels of Internet use in Sri Lanka, especially on mobile devices, new media offers development and social organisations low-cost, effective ways of reaching out different groups of society.

Two organisations that have long been involved in communicating for social change, the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE, www.cseindia.org) in India and TVE Asia Pacific (TVEAP, www.tveap.org) in Sri Lanka, are collaborating to offer a three-day workshop on how to leverage new media and social media for advocacy and strategic communication.

To be held in Colombo from 5 to 7 June 2013, it is modelled on a South Asian course that was held in New Delhi in January 2013 but customised with Sri Lankan content and resource persons. The workshop will be conducted in English, with practical sessions, and is offered free of charge for a limited number of participants.

Applications are invited from Sri Lankan nationals working full-time or part-time in development and/or social organisations and handling advocacy, awareness, activism and other outreach and engagement work.

Details and online application at: http://tiny.cc/EOEng

Applications close on 15 May 2013.
