January 15, 2013 By fundsforngos3

Deadline- 21th of February 2013

Every year, from August to December, the Research Partnership Programme (RPP) provides four researchers from developing and transitional countries the opportunity to be Research Partners at the Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR)

Research Partners at the Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR) offers funding opportunity for the Research Partnership Programme (RPP) to appeals to both junior (Master’s degree/equivalent) and senior researchers (PhD/equivalent).

The aim of the RPP is to-
  1. To strengthen human rights research capacity in transitional and developing countries, and in general to contribute to stronger academic environments and increased exchange between institutions in the human rights field internationally.
  2. To strengthen the implementation of human rights in domestic legislation and practice through the application of human rights research, and to upgrade and expand the resource bases in developing countries within the field of human rights.
  3. To systematically increase research reality based human rights findings in international work and programming.
The Research Partnership Programme is located in the DIHR’s Research Department. During their stay, from August to December (i.e. approximately 4 months) each Research Partner will carry a self-defined research project. Each of the candidates are provided with office facilities within this department, giving them the opportunity to interact with human rights researchers. Institute appoint a supervisor/sparring partner for each research partner and together the research partner and the supervisor agree on a plan for the research activities. Furthermore, close interaction with other departments and colleagues/programmes and activities here is sought as well.

The programme operates under the thematic focus of “Human Rights and Informal Justice Systems” (IJC), and the topics selected by prospective applicants fit under this theme. Furthermore, the regional focus is mainly on East Africa.

An RPP grant covers expenses in relation to accommodation, insurance and international flights. Moreover, research partners will receive a monthly stipend to cover living expenses in Denmark. Research partners will be provided accommodation by the Danida Fellowship Centre (DFC) in central Copenhagen. DFC handles the administration of the grants and organises numerous social-cultural events. As the cost of living in Denmark is high, research partners should not expect to be able to save money. These grants do not allow research partners to invite family members to Denmark.
