Apply now for the John Humphrey Freedom Award

The Canadian organisation Rights & Democracy invites nominations for the 2011 John Humphrey Freedom Award, which honours an organisation or person who has made an outstanding contribution to promoting human rights and democratic development. The deadline for nominations is 30 April 2011.

The winner will receive a CA$30,000 (US$31,300) grant, and a tour of Canadian cities to help increase awareness of his/her human rights work.

John Humphrey was a Canadian human rights law professor who prepared the first draft of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This year marks the 20th presentation of the award.
