Thomson Reuters Foundation Journalism Fellowships at the University of Oxford, 2011/12

Posted on: 01/11/2010

Applications are invited for the 2011/12 Reuters Fellowship program at Oxford University for mid-career journalists. Applicants must have a minimum of five years' experience in any branch of journalism and good spoken and written English. Application deadline: February 1, 2011.

The program enables visiting journalists from around the world to do research in Oxford for a period of three, six or nine months. Fellows enjoy an opportunity to critically reflect upon their profession, to research a subject of their choice under the supervision of an academic specialising in that area, and to enjoy the breadth of academic, cultural and social life at the University of Oxford. This is not a degree program but fellows are expected to write a substantial piece of research of publishable quality.

Around 30 journalists from around the globe from both print and broadcast media backgrounds study in Oxford each year on Fellowships. A number of the fellowships are fully funded by the Thomson Reuters Foundation. In addition, many Fellowships are funded thanks to additional external sponsorship from media-related organisations and individuals wishing to dedicate a Fellowship with a particular regional or subject focus.
