Scholarships to promote Asia-Europe cultural dialogue

Young Asian journalists with experience working in newspapers and media in the areas of society, religion and the mission of the Catholic Church can apply for a scholarship to attend an AsiaNews seminar in Rome, Italy. Deadline: April 3.

The seminar, "Journalist: a cultural bridge between Asia and Europe," will equip selected journalists with tools to transcend the cultural boundaries of Asia and Europe. Seminar facilitators will focus on modern techniques of Web-journalism as a way to promote cross-cultural dialoguel. They will discuss the example of Matteo Ricci, a Christian missionary to China in the 14th century who championed cultural acceptance.

The seminar will take place at the AsiaNews headquarters in Rome April 26 to 30. Scholarships will include the cost of airfare and accommodation in Rome.

Applicants must be fluent in English. To apply, interested individuals must submit an application, a resume or CV, examples of their work and a cover letter. A reference letter from Episcopal Curia or a Catholic organization may also be added.
